New Media and Communication

About the Department

The Department of New Media and Communication aims to teach students to comprehend new media technologies as mass communication tools, and the cultural and social changes brought about by these technologies. It offers an integrated approach, where theory and practice meet. With this approach, students will develop a transdisciplinary and critical perspective on social changes in the context of social sciences. They will gain communicative qualifications with advanced visual design perception and skills, digital literacy, critical thinking, and ability to produce and manage content with the tools of new technology.

Our mission is to prepare students to become competent and responsible media professionals on both local and global platforms. Students will have the opportunity to conduct collaborative work with academic staff and become creative thinkers through hands-on projects. They will also get the chance to broaden their personal interests and pursue their professional goals through internship. Upon completion of their degrees, graduates will be qualified to practice in a variety of fields, including social media expertise, journalism, advertising, digital media production and creative arts.
